AMERICA IS AT WAR!
County continues security work - Mohave County manager Ron Walker says county officials are working with the governor's office and the other 14 counties in the state on security planning. "We're stringing stuff through the office of Emergency Management. (Tuesday) we had a conference call to keep us up to speed with what's going on at the state level, and the state's staying in touch with Homeland Security. So we've got a pretty good link-up to stay abreast of what's actually going on," he said. If you have any concerns about security and preparedness in Golden Shores, you can learn about Homeland Security preparedness planning on their website at www.ready.gov.

ONE DEAD IN G. S. FIRE

Wednesday Morning about 7:00 a.m. - Golden Shores Fire Department received a call on a fire at a house on Tanque Verde. The owner of the house, Marvin Marley, unsuccessfully attempted to save his wife when he realized she was still in her bed and the house was on fire. Mr. Marley received smoke inhalation and minor burns, but was treated on the scene and did not want to be transported. The inside of the house was a total loss, but the outside structure was saved. The cause of the fire is unknown but was determined to be accidental. Mohave Valley Fire Department was called for backup. Mrs. Marley apparently died of smoke inhalation. The Marleys are well known and respected people of Golden Shores.

TRUCK FIRE

Tuesday Approx 1:00 p.m. - Golden Shores Fire Department received a call on a truck fire in front of the Citizens Telephone building on Oatman Road. Upon arrival (a whole half-block away) no flames were seen. The driver told firemen the fire was inside the dash. They used a fire extinguisher inside the vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle was later towed away.

INTENTIONAL FIRE

Alturas Street, G.S. - There just wasn't much left of this house on "the island" after having been ransacked and pretty well destroyed by the previous residents. The owner decided to tear it down, save what he could, and burn the rest to make way for a new home to be moved in soon. This was a controlled burn and the G.S. Fire Department watched as the fire burned without incident.

RAIN CLOUDS MOVE EAST
Golden Shores to Colorado - The excessively wet storm that left about 1½ inches of additional rain in Golden Shores over the weekend continued to move east. Colorado, as of Tuesday evening, had received 130 inches of snow in some areas and Denver had snow drifts of 5 feet and more. Dogs, snowball-fighters and traffic light repairmen were a few among many who braved Tuesday's deluge of snow in the Denver area. The heavy snowstorm shut down highways across the state and forced dozens of school districts to cancel classes and dozens of businesses and malls to close. And more bad weather is predicted. The storm is being labeled the biggest in Denver in 100 years.

SCHOOL SOLICITATIONS BOGUS!
Topock School, G.S. - It has been brought to our attention that some of you have been approached by students soliciting money for various school activities. Please be aware that these students are falsely representing themselves and our school. There is no school fundraising in the community. The eighth grade Catalina trip is funded primarily by tax credit monies. The remaining amount is earned through the support of local clubs and organizations. If you are approached by any students requesting money for an alleged school event or fund raiser ask them their name and call the school at 768-3344 and ask to speak to Mr. Agenbroad or Mr. Warren. The school does not endorse or condone door-to-door solicitation. To be safe, please make all donations in person at Topock Elementary School.

Golden Shores Website Changes
Click Here- The Golden Shores website is undergoing some major changes. We have a new look. If you have not seen it lately, have a look.
Around May 1st the website will be moved to a non-commercial, popup free hosting space. Freeyellow.com has served it's purpose and it is time to put the website on a space that is not supported by popup advertising screens. This costs money, but not much. The cost to continue to have your Website Links and Email Links is only $20.00 per year. Now you also have the option of having a banner ad put on the page for only $50.00 per year. To have your business listed on the website is free, but we will cover our costs with Links. Let's give Golden Shores some class and make our website look professional. If you do not have a website for your business, website design and webspace is very reasonable. Call 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net. We are always open to suggestions.

    Weekly Prayer
    - Dear Heavenly Father, Psalm 94 tells us that You who created the eye see everything. You who created the ear must hear all, so there is nothing that takes place that You are not aware of, but we remind You of what we are made of, so we don't get chrushed in the battle bewtween You and the forces of darkness who rule over this world. We ask You in the name of Jesus to remember our weakness and brighten the path so we can see clearly the way to go. Thank You Father.
