ARMED ROBBERY AT PILOT
I-40 and Hwy 95 - Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives responded to the Pilot Truck Stop at State Route 95 and Interstate 40 north of Lake Havasu City just before 4:30 Monday morning in reference to a reported armed robbery. According to reports, a man described as a white male, 5’6", 150 pounds with shoulder length blonde curly hair wearing a dark baseball cap, jeans and a plaid shirt with bad teeth, entered the stop and stated that he had a gun, although did not brandish the weapon. The suspected reportedly demanded money and got away with an unspecified amount of cash.
Two days later an arrest was made in connection with the Pilot robbery. Ventura County authorities arrested Asa Roberson, 26, of Havasu Heights, Tuesday night in connection with the case. Roberson was the employee that reported the theft to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation lead detectives to believe that Roberson was responsible for the theft. When he was apprehended in California, authorities located further evidence linking Roberson with the theft. Roberson is currently awaiting extradition to Mohave County on felony theft charges. Additional charges may be pending.

RIVER RUN ACCIDENTS
G.S. - The River Run may have been a success, but not without injuries. The first of two accidents near Golden Shores occurred Friday afternoon around 4:00p.m. about 2 miles north of G.S.

A couple riding on one bike left the road and hit the sand. Both were taken to Needles in the fire department ambulance. The male rider was immediately put into ICU with fractured ribs and a punctured lung. The female rider was treated for a broken wrist.
The fire department received another call about 2:00p.m. on Saturday.

This one was at the curve where Route 66 splits. One female rider was injured and taken to Needles in the ambulance. She complained of knee pain and was treated and released.
Another call came in Saturday night/Sunday morning on a vehicle rollover at the Route 66 curve. The male driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was in critical condition as he suffered fracture of cervical spine and was flown to UMC in Las Vegas. The female passenger was fine.

RIVER RUN SUCCESSFUL
Tri-State - For the first time in decades, Laughlin resorts did not sell-out during the 21st Annual River Run. But participants - and especially law enforcement - are calling the event a success. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Tom Smitley said he was pleased with the approach used by law enforcement to maintain public safety, to saturate the area with officers. "This is to insure the success of the River Run, and insure safety. This Run is for the public. The increased police presence reduced the level of fear that they would have and allowed them to still have a good time and party for the weekend," he said. Some bikers opted to boycott the River Run because of the increased police presence, staging a 'Screw Laughlin' rally in Phoenix. About 400 riders attended the valley gathering. Meanwhile only one major accident - a fatal crash - occurred during the event, on Highway 163 Saturday evening. The chain reaction reportedly caused a second accident, when a Las Vegas television reporter and a second biker were rear-ended. Neither suffered serious injury and rider that initiated the crash was charged with DUI.

Getting Along... Two Arabs boarded a flight out of London. One took a window seat and the other sat next to him in the middle seat. Just before takeoff, an American sat down in the aisle seat. After takeoff, the American kicked his shoes off, wiggled his toes and was settling in when the Arab in the window seat said, "I need to get up and get a beer."
"Don't get up," said the American, "I'm in the aisle seat. I'll get it for you." As soon as he left, one of the Arabs picked up the American's shoe and spat in it.
When he returned with the beer, the other Arab said, "That looks good, I'd really like one, too." Again, the American obligingly went to fetch it. While he was gone the other Arab picked up his other shoe and spat in it.
When the American returned, they all sat back and enjoyed the flight. As the plane was landing, the American slipped his feet into his shoes and knew immediately what had happened.
"Why does it have to be this way?" he asked. "How long must this go on? This fighting between our nations? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and urinating in beers? ...

    Weekly Prayer
    - Dear Heavenly Father, we Pray for Our Leaders! President Bush, his advisors and Cabinet, and all the way down to our local officials. We Pray for Our Allies! Prime Minister Tony Blair and the British Government and British troops and families. We Pray for protection and for peace. We Pray that those who don't know Christ would come to Him. We Pray that we would have confidence in the Lord and in His mighty power and for understanding that He alone is able to keep us from harm and guide us in the ways we should go.
We ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
