SPAM BILL PASSED
Phoenix - Joining the growing crusade against
the scourge of e-mail messages like "$2,000,000 Instant Win Game!,"
"Hot, Horny Sex Videos!," and "Feel and Look Younger Again!," the
Arizona Legislature approved a bill to impose new restrictions on
e-mail spam, sending it to Gov. Janet Napolitano for her promised
signature. Napolitano said she would sign the bill, which would
prohibit senders of unsolicited commercial electronic advertisements
from falsifying the origin of bulk transmissions or misrepresenting
their contents. The bill would make it easier to identify unwanted
advertisements by requiring that "ADV" be added to the subject line
of all unsolicited e-mail advertisements. Also, advertisers would
have to offer a free way for recipients to remove themselves from
bulk lists while barring resale of those e-mail addresses, and
senders would have three business days to comply with removal
requests. Under the bill, recipients and damaged e-mail service
providers could collect damages, while violations would be
misdemeanors punishable by up to four months in jail and fines of up
to $750 per person and $10,000 for companies

FIRE CALLS G.S. - The fire department only had 2 calls
in the past week. One was on Concho on Saturday where a grass fire
got out of control and got to a wood pile. The fire was quickly
extenguished. The second was on Wednesday which started out as a
brush fire east of town and turned into a trailer fire. There was no
one living in the trailer. It was determined to be in the Desert
Hills fire district, but our firefighters remained there and helped
as a courtesy.
Doesn't the new fire department building look
nice?
ROUTE 66 FUN RUN FUN
 Route 66 - The
Route 66 Fun Run ended up in Golden Shores at the Civic Center
Sunday. All the old cars came and put on quite a show. The
organization's award ceremony was held at the Civic Center and MC'd
by Bob Ericson. A new Miss Route 66 was present, but no one seems to
know her name. It was reported that the other girls were upset
because the winner really didn't want to be there, but then she won.
It was a nice day for the event.

KICKIN BUTT IN G.S.
G.S. - On Wednesday
morning groups of kids from the school were walking around picking
up something which no one could tell from a distance. With my
handy-dandy camera I took some pictures, then started asking
questions. "They are picking up cigarette butts," said Kathy
McDonald, leader of the group. "This is the 7th grade class from
Topock and they are in 3 groups," she continued. "This is the first
group. There will be another later this morning and then one this
afternoon. This is a part of the annual "Kick Butt Program." The
group that turns in the most weight in cigarette butts wins a swim
and pizza party at the Acquatic in Lake Havasu City." On calling
the school, we found out the 3rd thru 7th grades are participating
in the Kick Butt Program. Let us congratulate our school staff for
their ingenuity in helping to keep our community clean and teach the
kids a great lesson at the same time. We'll try to announce the
winning class next week. Thanks to you, kids, for doing this.

NEW SHERIFF CARS

Mohave County -
Deputies will be patrolling Mohave County in new Ford
Expeditions by the first week of May. The vehicles are a departure
from the standard Crown Victoria units that many agencies used to
rely upon. However, recent safety questions have changed that
standard. "I didn’t feel comfortable putting my deputies in vehicles
that possibly aren’t safe. I felt it was only responsible to have
the safest vehicle we can patrolling our streets," said Sheriff Tom
Sheahan. "Part of the upgrade costs were covered by money
received from the Sheriff’s Office involvement in a drug
investigation with the United States Customs," Sheriff Sheahan said.
"When you look at the areas we patrol, much of it is rural areas
with sometimes primitive roads. A vehicle with four wheel drive
capability and extra ground clearance is more practical then a
sedan," Sheriff Sheahan said.
A BIG SUCCESS!!!
G.S. - As most of you
know, I am the owner and publisher of this weekly E-News as well as
the Editor of The Civic for the past 3 years. The GSeXtra is the
result of an attempt to start a weekly paper in G.S. about 18 months
ago. That attempt failed because of the enormous cost of having it
printed by NewsWest (Mohave Daily). I checked numerous other
printing facilities and finally decided on email for now since most
people now have email. This has been a huge success! I have
people subscribing from all over and, as best I can tell, readership
is becoming greater than The Civic. The problem I have is there is a
need for someone to contact businesses for advertising. Businesses
are contacting me to run ads, but I have no one to go see
them. The Civic also has no one to contact businesses. The Civic
Association does not pay, as it is a volunteer organization. But
this publication can pay someone. So perhaps you would like to make
some extra cash by helping this publication and help the Civic
Association at the same time. If so, please contact me at 768-1400
or email ys@goldenshores.net.

see in this publication, we would like you to let us know. If we
don't know what you like, we can't put it in, so even if you would
like to see something different, please let us know. Call 768-1400
or Email news@goldenshores.net. This
publication will be going to print soon and we want to publish a
first-rate paper. Thank you.

MOTHER'S DAY SUNDAY
Special -
MOTHER Who gave me life and held my hand and caught me
when I fell. Who never failed to comfort me when I was scared
or ill. Who gave so much and cheered me on and cared with
heart in hand. Who will always be a part of me, my mother, my
dear friend.
Thank you for always being there for us. You
were at the heart of everything we did. You were the finder of
lost dreams the mender of broken hearts, the one who believed
anything was possible. We were blessed by your caring ways and
loving kindnesses. Every family should be as fortunate as ours.
There are angels God puts on this earth who care for us
and guide us. You can feel their love and gentleness as they
walk through life beside us. God blessed me with a person like
that she loves me more than any other. And I'm thankful I'm
the lucky one who gets to call her MOTHER.

Golden Shores Website
Changes Click Here- The Golden Shores
website is undergoing some major changes. We have a new look. If you
have not seen it lately, have a look. Soon the website will be
moved to a non-commercial, popup free hosting space. Freeyellow.com
has served it's purpose and it is time to put the website on a space
that is not supported by popup advertising screens. This costs
money, but not much. The cost to continue to have your Website
Links and Email Links is only $20.00 per year. Now you
also have the option of having a banner ad put on the page for only
$50.00 per year. To have your business listed on the website is
free, but we will cover our costs with Links. Let's give Golden
Shores some class and make our website look professional. If
you do not have a website for your business, website design and
webspace is very reasonable. Call 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net. We are
always open to suggestions. YOUR BUSINESS CARD AD HERE! Call 768-1400

The Mechanic... From the back home comes this
story of a couple who drove their car to Wal-Mart, only to have
their car break down in the parking lot. The man told his wife to
carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car in the lot. The
wife returned later to see a small group of people near the
car. On closer inspection, she saw a pair of male legs protruding
from under the chassis. Although the man was in shorts, his lack of
underpants turned private parts into glaringly public ones. Unable
to stand the embarrassment, she dutifully stepped forward, quickly
put her hand UP his shorts, and tucked everything back into
place. On regaining her feet, she looked across the hood and
found herself staring at her husband who was standing idly by. The
mechanic, however, had to have three stitches in his forehead.

Weekly
Prayer - Dear Lord God, we
bow down before You. We thank You for Your mercy & grace that
enables us to live an abundant life. But at this special time, Lord,
we want to thank you for our Mothers. Search our hearts, Lord, let
us look close inside ourselves and be sure that the 'house' we are
living in is not built by human hands but by Your Hands. Let us not
live in a house fashioned for us by our mothers, or even our
fathers, rather let the house be built by You & found to be a
fit dwelling place for Your Holy Spirit. We love You, Lord, and as
we draw close to our Mothers, we also seek You. Please help us to
draw near to You. We ask these things in the Name of Jesus.
Amen.
