INJURY ACCIDENT
Route 66 Oatman - Two people were sent to the hospital after a motorcycle accident that took place on the Oatman Road stretch of Route 66 Wednesday morning. According to reports, William Miller and Charlotte Miller, 53, of South Carolina, were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle towards Oatman at Ed’s Camp at the switchbacks when the bike left the roadway. William suffered a broken right clavicle and internal injuries and Charlotte suffered a broken right arm. They were transported via ground ambulance to Kingman Regional Medical Center. Deputies investigating the accident believe that operator inattention is the main cause of the accident. No charges have been filed.

INJURY BOATING ACCIDENT
Colorado River - Mohave County Sheriff’s Waterways Patrol Deputies responded to an injury accident at the sandbar Sunday afternoon. According to reports, two 15-year-old boys from California were operating their personal watercraft in a reckless manner when they collided. Larry Costello Jr., apparently turned left in front of his friend when the second operator struck the craft that Costello was operating. Costello suffered a fractured right femur and additional fractures to his left tibia and fibula as well as facial trauma. He was airlifted by DPS Ranger to the Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center where he was stabilized and then transported by air to a California hospital. The other subject was cited for reckless operation. More charges may be pending.

DPS MAKES DRUG BUST
Quartzsite - A Department of Public Safety K-9 unit that made a traffic stop for speeding on I-10 just east of the town, happened on a significant drug bust. "The officer, as he put the dog back in the patrol car, the passenger in the suspect vehicle, slid over to the driver's seat and took off. The officer pursued for a short distance, about four miles, the guy exited the freeway, jumped out of his car and took off running on foot. The officer let his dog go and the dog kind of cornered the suspect," said DPS spokesman Steve Volden. In addition to the two unidentified suspects, the officer captured 250 pounds of marijuana and $32,000 in cash.

BUSTER INVESTIGATION...
Bullhead City - The documents surrounding allegations that Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson, R-Dist. 3, sexually harassed two female employees also contains allegations he violated the open meeting law. And an effort to have an independent investigator look into the allegations was submitted and pulled back by Supervisor Tom Sockwell, R-Dist. 2. "I was probably a little premature in putting that on the agenda. After it was on, the county attorney called and informed me that this was not a thing we could. It was not a viable idea, so I turned right around and pulled it back off. So it's a dead issue," he said. The county attorney office had forwarded the material to the state Attorney General's office more than a year ago, but both former attorney general and now Gov. Janet Napolitano and current attorney general Terry Goddard refuse to comment on the issue.
Mr. Johnson calls the investigation "a sham at best," and said Human Resources director Geoff Riches went on "a fishing expedition." Although he admits to engaging in sexual activity and banter with one of the women, with whom he had a relationship, Mr. Johnson denies it was unwelcome conduct, and he alleges that Mr. Riches was himself in a relationship with the other complainant. Mr. Johnson closed by saying he believes that the entire matter stems from his unwillingness to raise taxes and offer pay raises to employees, and his efforts against underage marriages in Colorado City.

CHILD ABUSE UP IN AZ
Tri-State - Down in CA. Two very different reports on child abuse. A recent study by the Arizona Coalition Against Child Abuse found that courts placed children back with an abusive parent 55 percent of the time in the rural part of the state, 74 percent of the time in urban areas. That contrasts with California, who is reporting a 69 percent drop in abuse cases. The state credits GO SERVE, an America program designed to assist families where abuse has been previously reported, as the key factor in reducing repeat abuse.

RAPE SUSPECT, PREGNANT TEEN FOUND
Fort Mohave - A disturbance call led Mohave County Sheriff's to a man wanted out of Minnesota on strong-arm rape and drug charges. According to reports, deputies found Paul Martin Hippler, 37, at a residence at Joy lane and Highway 95. He was taken into custody and is awaiting extradition back to Minnesota. A 16-year-old pregnant girl at the residence, who told deputies Hippler was the father of her children, was transported to Colorado River Regional Youth Services and she will be transported back to her family in Minnesota.

FIRE RESTRICTIONS
Tri-State - Record heat and drought conditions means this spring has one of the greater fire risks in recent memory. And fire restrictions are in place on federal and state lands. No open campfires or barbeques may be used except by permit in select designated areas and smoking on the public lands is also prohibited. Fireworks are prohibited on all state lands all year long.

THE BALANCE OF GOD
Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven, God was missing.....for several days. Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting. He inquired of God. "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."
Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a state, part of the United States," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Arizona and it's going to be a great place of balance."
"Balance?" Inquired Michael, still confused.
God explained, pointing to different parts of the state.
"For example, Flagstaff will be a place of great opportunity and wealth but cold and harsh, while Tucson is going to be poor but sunny and pleasant . "I have made some lands abundant in water and other lands parched deserts. "This one will be extremely hot and while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."
The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land mass and said, "What's that one?"
"Ah," said God. "That's Golden Shores, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful beaches, deserts, streams, hills, and forests. The people from Golden Shores are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance!!!"
God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I put in Phoenix."
