NOTHING BUT ASHES...
G.S. - Early Thursday morning the Golden Shores Fire Department was busy with a fire at 4530 Palo Verde. But this was a "good fire". It was a controlled burn. The mobile had been donated to the fire department and they used it as a training vehicle for firefighters. By the time most people even knew there was a fire in Golden Shores, it was all over. All that remains is ashes and rubble and the frame of the mobile.

RIVER FIRE MAY HAVE BEEN SET
Colorado River - Lower Colorado River Interagency Fire Management officials say the River Fire is contained although a few hot spots are expected to flare over the next few days. The River Fire, about 1.5 miles north of the Avi Casino, consumed about 490 acres consisting primarily of salt cedar, arrow weed and mesquite. Now effort turns to investigating the cause and Ft. Mohave Mesa Fire will be joined by BLM and San Bernardino County fire inspectors on the case. "Their investigator for this area dose have a little bit more expertise in wild land fire investigation. And it's also a pretty common thing that the agencies work together on fire investigations," said Steve Shaklett, Ft. Mohave Mesa Fire Inspector. Early indications are that the blaze is man-made. Meanwhile fire teams have finished mapping the Hay Fire that took place on Colorado River Indian Tribal land in Parker. They estimate 457 acres were burned there. Cause of the fire remains under investigation, although preliminary review indicates the Hay Fire may have been spontaneous combustion

FIRES LEAD TO SEVERE RESTRICTIONS
Tri-State - An exceptionally dry spring has prompted the National Park Service to implement fire restrictions in the Lake Mead Recreational Area, including Lake Mohave. Camp fires and barbeques are prohibited except at developed recreation sites and smoking is only permitted in closed vehicles. Fireworks remain prohibited as well. BLM, State Lands, State Parks and Mohave County all implemented fire restrictions late last month.

LOCAL BURGLARIES LEAD TO ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
G.S. - Wednesday morning some people in Golden Shores were again awakened by sightings of broken glass and people fleeing from scene. It seems the only way we are going to catch these people is to install the latest video technology. The cameras that are available now can positively identify persons in almost total darkness. Wednesday morning's event did not set off an alarm because they could not enter the premise, but next time they will be SEEN! It's too bad some people in Golden Shores have nothing else better to do.

ANOTHER ROCK JUMP DEATH
Lake Mohave - Kevin M. Niles, 25, died Saturday, jumping from a cliff on Lake Mohave. According to reports, the incident occurred about 3 p.m., when Niles jumped from the rock in the area known as Galoine Alley. He landed in about 45 feet of water and never resurfaced. Rescue divers recovered the body about half an hour later. It's the second rock jumping-related death in the Tri-State area this year. Over Memorial Day weekend, a 33-year-old California man died after leaping from Jump-Off Rock in San Bernardino County's Copper Canyon.

Ft. Mohave - Mohave County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of one of their own. Deputy Kelly Turner, 33, was found dead in his Ft. MORE AIRLINE SERVICE - LHC
Lake Havasu City - $400,000 from the federal government and another $200,000 from the state gets put to use starting July 1. Mesa Airlines, the air carrier serving Lake Havasu City, will begin three new weekday flights thanks to the air service grants. The carrier is adding a third round-trip flight to Phoenix and two round-trip flights to Ontario, Calif. In addition, there will be a single round-trip flight to Phoenix on Saturday and two on Sunday. The city also matched $75,000 per the grant, which will be used to subsidize the air carrier if they fail to turn a profit. As an incentive to try the new service, Mesa is offering a $76 round-trip fare to Ontario the first week of July and they have begun taking reservations.

    HEAVENLY MARRIAGE -
On their way to get married, a young couple are involved in a fatal car accident. The couple find themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter to process them into Heaven.
While waiting, they begin to wonder: Could they possibly get married in Heaven? When St. Peter shows up, they asked him. St. Peter says, "I don't know. This is the first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out," and he leaves. The couple sat and waited for an answer . . . for a couple of months.
While they waited, they discussed that IF they were allowed to get married in Heaven, SHOULD they get married, what with the eternal aspect of it all. "What if it doesn't work?" they wondered, "Are we stuck together FOREVER?"
After yet another month, St. Peter finally returns, looking somewhat bedraggled. "Yes," he informs the couple, "you CAN get married in Heaven."
"Great!" said the couple, "But we were just wondering, what if things don't work out? Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?"
St. Peter, red-faced with anger, slams his clipboard onto the ground. "What's wrong?" asked the frightened couple.
"OH, COME ON!" St. Peter shouts, "It took me three months to find a priest up here! Do you have ANY idea how long it'll take me to find a lawyer.

    Weekly Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, Our hearts cry out 'Is this all there is?' Your Word says if we call upon You, You will answer us and show us great and mighty things we do not know. We call upon You now in the name of Jesus, asking You to show us, open our blinded eyes so we can see! We seek revelation in every area of our lives. It is not enough to go on yesterdays blessing Lord we need a brand new touch! We ask for a personal move of Your Spirit in our hearts & minds!
Father, this is the confidence that we have in Jesus, that if we ask anything according to Your Will, You hear us and You have already answered. Father, there are so many here that are sick and that have special needs. We lift all these people up to You and ask You to help us to accept Your Will for our lives. Lord help us to listen to that still small voice and yield to the moving of Your Spirit.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen
