ARRESTED FOR LITTERING

Mohave County - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office received a littering call just after 11:00 Monday morning that resulted in the arrest of one individual. Deputies responded and were able to locate the subject, Robert James Bufano, 43, of Kingman, who was in the process of illegally disposing of his garbage. Bufano was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Mohave County Jail on the felony charge of littering.
There are a number of people in Golden Shores that are complaining about people that dispose of their trash in the dumpsters they pay for. Some have seen people simply dump trash along the streetsides in Golden Shores. These instances need to be reported to the sheriff.
Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan said the arrest mirrors the department's tough stance on the issue. "We consider littering a very serious crime," said Sheriff Tom Sheahan. "And when we catch the person responsible in a case, they are going to jail," Sheriff Sheahan said.

VIAL of ANIMAL EUTHANASIA FALLS OFF TRUCK
Topock - The Mohave County Sheriff's Office and Mohave County Animal Control is looking for a large dog carrier. The carrier apparently blew from the back of an Animal Control vehicle while it was heading westbound on Interstate 40 near the Topock exit at about 10:30 Tuesday morning. When the vehicle was able to return to the area from which the carrier blew from the truck, a passerby had apparently picked up the carrier. Inside the cage was a full vial of euthanasia formula. The vial is a semi clear plastic with a clear blue fluid. Anyone who has seen the container is asked to contact Animal Control at (928) 753-2727 or take the container and vial to their local animal control facility.

DATA STORAGE ON MOON
The Moon - A Company is Planning a Computer Data Storage Dump on the Moon. Dr. Strangelove would love this one. Companies like Iron Mountain now store your backup data in old mine shafts, but now a California company will take that one giant step further. That's right! Soon you'll be able to store backups on the moon. Talk about a mine-shaft gap! By early next year, it plans to have a working network on the moon which begs the question: If the earth explodes, do you really need your data?

On June 25, the Federal Reserve Open market Committee announced that they cut the discount rate by 25 basis points. The Bond market reacted by sending interest rates higher. Scott Messina, president of Banking Exchange Technologies, provider of the Bond Rate Moniter said, "This is an indication the FED believes the economy is improving and they only need to cut rates by 25 basis points which is bad news for bonds and mortgage rates. Unfortunately, most people do not understand the relationship between discount rate and mortgage rates. What they need to understand is that it's not about what the FED does to the rate that really counts, it's about bond traders asking themselves does this mean the economy is getting better?" According to Tom Carbone, "If the FED reacts as if the economy is getting worse interest rates will fall, but if they indicate things are improving rates are sure to go up. Why? Because perception is reality". Becky Crabtree

CELL PHONE DRIVING MORE DANGEROUS THAN DRUNKS
Arizona - A study performed by the University of Utah claims that drivers who talk on the phone are more apt to get into collisions than motorists who have been drinking. "They're looking down at the phone while they're driving and not looking forward … It's pretty dangerous," said Lee Ratliff, claiming he sees bad driving on a daily basis. "Headsets are great because it doesn't get in the way of your vision," Ratliff said. But the study claims it doesn't matter, saying after testing 41 chit-chatting drivers in simulators, they found they smacked into things at a higher rate than those who bottomed up before getting behind the wheel.
Some disagree with the study's finding, however. "No one knows how many crashes are related to phone use. These findings cannot necessarily be generalized to the real world," said the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Simulator tests translate poorly to what's happening on Arizona streets, and he's worried those results could be misconstrued. "I think there's a misconception there that says driving and drinking is more safe than cell phone use and that's absolutely incorrect," Frias said.

NAKED-WOMEN HUNT - HOAX
Las Vegas - Claim: A Las Vegas business has been conducting "hunts" of naked women for customers armed with paintball guns.
Status: False.
A cruel real-life example of the shocking degradation of women, or a big put-on? That's the question being raised about a Las Vegas-based business which purportedly offers "hunters" the opportunity, for $10,000, to stalk naked women and shoot them with paintball guns.
