METH LAB EXPLODES
Park Moabi - San Bernardino County Sheriff's detectives are on the look-out for one of the men involved in a Needles meth lab that apparently blew up. According to reports, three of suspects were taken to the hospital after a motor home at Park Moabi went up in flames Friday. Investigation into the incident turned up a boat stolen out of Riverside County, handguns with the serial numbers filed off. Two of the suspects, Bradley Vazzana, 41, and Michael Paulson, 30, are in critical condition while Nicole Embry, 21, is described as having moderate burns. All three were transported to UMC in Las Vegas. A fourth suspect, Mandy Dunwoody, 24, was treated and released for minor injuries, arrested and booked into Needles Jail. The outstanding suspect is described as a white male, about 30-years-old, with numerous tattoos including "white pride" and "samantha" on his back, and he may have some scarring or injuries from the fire. He is believed to be a parolee out of Riverside County and may have the first name of "Kelly" and go by the nickname "Tree." Anyone with any information is asked to call the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office at 909-890-4925.

BLM INFO CENTER TO CLOSE
Needles - Bureau of Land Management budget cutbacks have contributed to the upcoming closure of the Mohave Information Center. The Broadway location was an information source for the 1.6 million acre Mohave National Preserve. Its employees, through educational programs and classroom sessions, also acted as liaisons for the reserve in the Tri-State region. The center was a cooperative partnership between the Preserve, a National Park Service division, and the Needles BLM who accounted for half the funding. Another contributing factor is the spring 2004 opening of the Kelso Depot Visitor Center. Staffing of that operation took people away from the Needles center. No official closing date has been announced.

SHOOTING DOLAN SPRINGS
Mohave County - Deputies were called to a residence to investigate a domestic violence/assault report. Upon arrival they were confronted by Angel Madrid, age 30. Madrid confronted deputies armed with an assault rifle. Madrid fired two shots at the responding deputies and deputies fired multiple shots at Madrid who was struck twice, once in the thigh and once in the upper body. He was transported to UMV in Las Vegas where currently listed as being in "serious" condition. The victim of the domestic violence had severe bruising to her facial area and both of her eyes were black with one swollen almost completely shut. The deputies are on paid administrative leave pending an administrator review of the incident. Madrid is currently facing aggravated assault charges but more charges could be pending. The Arizona Department of Public Safety Shooting Team was requested by Sheriff Tom Sheahan to investigate the incident to ensure impartiality.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Highway 95 - Mohave County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Sandpoint Marina late Saturday night. According to reports, two California men had gone to that area to attempt to fix a broken down vehicle belonging to relatives of theirs. When they arrived, they were confronted by Jeffrey Gordon Clevenger, 41, of Las Vegas. Clevenger was in another vehicle that had broken down across the street from the car the victims were intending to fix. Clevenger reportedly asked for a ride and the pair stated that as soon as they had the vehicle working, they would give him a ride. Clevenger reportedly became rude and the pair attempted to leave, but when as they started to leave, Clevenger reportedly obtained a hunting rifle from his vehicle and blocked the roadway demanding a ride from the victims. The pair told him to get into the bed of the truck but as he started to get in, they accelerated at a high rate of speed as they feared for their lives. Clevenger was thrown from the vehicle and struck by a personal watercraft trailer they were towing. The pair left the scene heading southbound on 95 and contacted officers with the La Paz County Sheriff's Office, who notified the MCSO. While deputies were enroute, Clevenger apparently attempted to stop a motorhome by stepping infront of it and was struck by the motorhome as well. He was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released for scrapes and abrasions and for a laceration to his head. He was then booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman where he is facing two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No charges are being filed against the drivers of the pick up truck or the motorhome.

Lake Havasu City - A motorcyclist that crashed on a Lake Havasu City street Tuesday night has died. The victim has been identified as Damian C. Meadows, 25, of Pueblo West Colo. According to police, Meadows appeared to have been traveling at a high rate of speed on Oro Grande Boulevard when he failed to negotiate a curve, struck a curb and was thrown from the bike. HUALAPAI FIRE RESTRICTIONS END
Mohave County - Bureau of Land Management officials have announced that fire restrictions have been removed for the Hualapai Mountain area. The restrictions, originally put in place last May because of severe draught conditions and the high risk for wildfire, will be lifted effective this Friday at 6 a.m. BLM officials said human caused fires were down dramatically this year.

COUNTY BUDGET OK'D
Kingman - The Mohave County Board of Supervisors Monday approved the 2003-04 budget and Supervisor Tom Sockwell, R-Dist. 2, said it's a cautious budget. "We chose to leave things 'status quo' this year, pretty much, because we took about a $570,000 hit from the state as a result of their budget in the general fund. We also took about a $700,000 hit in our HURF funds from the state," he said. The approval came on a 2-to-1 vote with Supervisor Buster Johnson, R-Dist. 3, voting against.

FOOD SHARE COMING
G.S. - Food Share, which was shut down the end of June, is likely to make a comeback. The men of the local Baptist Church are working on a program, but we recently learned that Alberta Thrasher, local director of Food Care, is working hard to find a driver and a truck to go to Phoenix and pick up the food from St. Mary's Foodbank. The reason Food Care shut down is because St. Mary's will no longer deliver to this area. So hopefully in September there will be food again for those who need it and want it. Watch here for details.

FOWL QUARANTINE ENDS
Tri-State - It's ok to bring back the birds. The USDA has lifted the quarantine on fowl that was imposed following an outbreak of Exotic Newcastle Disease. The disease was discovered first in Riverside County last spring, then spread to San Bernardino and Clark Counties, and turned up on the Colorado River Indian Tribes reservation. In addition to the quarantine, millions of chickens were destroyed to prevent further spreading of the disease.

    TWO BY FOURS -
Two men in a pickup truck drove into a lumberyard. One of the men walked in the office and said, "We need some four-by-twos." The clerk said, "You mean two-by-fours, don't you?" The man said, "I'll go check," and went back to the truck. He returned in a minute and said, "Yeah, I meant two-by-fours." "All right. How long do you need them?" The customer paused for a minute and said, "I'd better go check." After a while, the customer returned to the office and said, "A long time. We're gonna build a house."
