BEST QUOTE OF THE YEAR:

HELL'S ANGELS ROUNDUP
AZ & Western US -
Numerous law enforcement agencies, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, arrested seven of Hell's Angels gang members Wednesday, including a pair in Mohave County. Arrested at a residence in Bullhead City was Donald Craig Smith, 45. And in Kingman, George Walters, 47, was taken into custody at a residence on Old Highway 93.
Charges against those arrested have not yet been released. A lot of that stuff can't be released at this time, because there is a multitude of enforcement activity going on around Arizona, California, Alaska, Nevada, Washington state.
Over 150 law enforcement personnel took part in the raids in Arizona. So far, seven people have been taken into custody in the state - including the current president of the Tucson chapter of the Hell's Angels and the former president of the Mesa chapter. Mr. Mangan of ATF said more arrests are pending.

GREAT START FOR SHOPPING
Mohave County -
Nationwide reports indicate that the economy continues to show positive growth trends and the figures in the Tri-State area also seem to be as good in the first days of the holiday shopping season. Local businesses in Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Kingman are reporting increases from 5 to 20 percent over last year. Merchants all seem happy with the trend, although not surprised. Some are reporting double digit gains for the last 60 days, and they say that's pretty close to what they were expecting. It seems people are feeling the festive spirit and people have been lined up at the doors before opening. So by all indications it appears it's going to be an awesome year. Wal-Mart's big leader item this year seems to be DVD players for $30. Allthoug all merchants seem to be really blowing through a lot of merchandise.
RIVER WATER LEVER TO BE LOWERED
La Paz County -
The La Paz County Board of Supervisors is asking the Bureau of Reclamation to lower the Colorado River for a few weeks.
It used to be an annual event where they lowered the river for three weeks in January and it really allowed the contractors to get in there and solve a lot of issues - sea wall damage, erosion, boat ramps, docks - without getting into the water and causing problems. The County Board is asking the BOR to do a complete draw down of 18-20 feet in the area between Parker and Headgate Dams from January 4-17. This will mean lower levels for upriver as well. There has been no word yet on whether the BOR will honor the request or once again approve a partial draw down as occurred two years ago.

G.S. CHURCH GETS BUS
G.S. -
The local Golden Shores Community Baptist Church now has a bus. If you would like a ride to church on Sunday morning, or if you have children that would like to go, please call the church office at 768-2515. A member of the church purchased the bus and got it licensed and insured. He put a logo on the side of the bus which says, "How can Golden Shores Community Baptist Church help you?" Mr. Bacot said, "I just want to help the people of Golden Shores by picking them for church, delivering food, or whatever needs to be done to help."
HOLIDAY HOME FIRE SAFETY
Tri-State -
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas throughout the Tri-State area as residents decorate their homes. Fire officials have a few pointers to ensure that decorations don't become a fire hazard. The best thing to do is to make sure that all of your wiring is Underwriters Laboratory, or UL approved and make sure that its used, that its designed for the purpose for which it is intended. Another thing is to make sure that you follow the manufacturers recommendations. Make sure you don't put too many strands of lights into one string. Carefully examining the lights is a good idea. Look at everything and make sure that it is all buttoned up, that you don't have any loose wires, that you don't have any exposed wires, you don't have any wires as tripping hazards or where they can rub against something and become exposed. A house in Desert Hills burned last week that was started by an electrical short, which was caused by faulty electrical installation where staples were used.

RECOVERED VEHICLES
Wikieup -
Mohave County Sheriff's Office deputies responded on Monday to a report of two front-end loaders that had been stolen from a highway construction site. Deputies spoke with the victim/owners, AMES Construction, where they reported the front-end loader vehicles were stolen over the holiday weekend at Highway 93 near milepost 128. On Sunday the owners had recovered the vehicles about a mile away from where they were stolen, hidden in thick trees and brush, the vehicles were severely damaged. Each front-end loader is approximately worth $250,000. Mohave County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carlos Rooks at (928) 758-0700 or (800) 522-4312.

TEEN SEX OK?
Phoenix -
The Center for Arizona Policy (CAP) reports that Gov. Janet Napolitano has stacked the “Governor’s Commission on the Health Status of Women and Children” with proponents of abortion and “comprehensive” sex education. Our Legislative Analyst, Bethany Lewis, attended the most recent meeting earlier this week, and discovered a commission seriously lacking in diversity. A pro-abortion, pro-condom, pro-sex education and pro-teen sex mindset pervades the presentations and discussion. Minutes from a previous meeting reflected a total focus on “comprehensive sex education” as the response to the state’s high teen pregnancy rate, despite the release of a recent study touting the benefits of the state’s abstinence until marriage training program. We’ll let you know of any wacky, left-wing policy proposals that come from this stacked commission.
MULTIPLE WIVES OK?
CAP also reports that when the Supreme Court declared sodomy to be a constitutional right in the case of Lawrence v. Texas, one Supreme Court justice and many of us pointed out that the ruling paved the way for claims that polygamy is also a constitutional right. Of course proponents of the homosexual agenda mocked that argument. But if what consenting adults do sexually in the privacy of their homes is no concern to government, polygamists should be free to have sex with multiple wives. Just as we predicted, a Utah polygamist has now appealed to the Utah Supreme Court and cited the Lawrence case to argue his convictions should be thrown out. Tom Green has five wives and 30 children, and was convicted on four counts of bigamy. He faces more jail time following his conviction for child rape, after having sex with one of his wives who was 13 years old.

DESERT FINALLY COOLS
G.S. -
After what seemed like a summer that wouldn't end with months of above average temperatures, the National Weather Service reports that this November was cooler than in the last two years. The average high was 70 degrees, as opposed to 77 in 2002. The average low was 50, compared to 54 in 2002. NWS also reports that this year has been significantly wetter than recent years, with more than 6 inches of rain falling locally. The average amount for G.S. is only 2.8 inches. We have seen far more rain this year than last, when only 1.3 inches of precipitation had fallen.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
G.S. -
Most residents of Golden Shores are under the misconception that the Neighborhood Watch and the Patrol were "one". This is not true. The Watch and the Patrol were separate entities having separate meetings, different members and paying separate dues. The "Patrol" patrolled the streets. The "Watch" watches out for their neighbors. If they see anything suspicious, for example, they know their neighbors are out of town and they see someone on their property or a light comes on, they report it to the police. Did you know the crime rate here has gone up considerably since the Watch disbanded? Our revamped Watch will work under the original charter so if you were a life-time member, you still are.
Our next meeting is Monday, December 15th at 6:00 p.m. Please join us.
PROBLEMS GETTING THIS PUBLICATION
G.S. -
A lot of people are being cut off from our mailing list because of the spam filters on the Frontier internet email service. We are starting to get back a lot of emails saying, "Spam messages are not being accepted by...", so if you are not getting, or stop getting your email from us, it is not because we have stopped, it's because of the spam filters you have setup on your Frontier email service. You need to make gsnews@goldenshores.net as one of your "friends".
EDITOR NEEDED
The editor of this paper AND The Civic needs an assistant. I need someone that I can train to possibly take over in the event something happens to me. Besides, this little paper is growing very fast and there is going to be room for expansion soon. It would be part time work, but you must be quite computer literate. There is no pay from the Civic Association, so the hours and pay are low, but great potential. If interested, call me at 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net.
G.S. WEBSITE GETS NEW LOOK
We're always looking for ways to improve the Golden Shores website. The traffic on this website is greatly increasing. We have a new host and we have removed all hyperlinks on the Golden Shores website unless there is paid advertising.
The website has been moved to a non-commercial, popup free hosting space. This new space is not supported by popup advertising screens. This costs money, but not much. The cost to continue to have your Website Links and Email Links is only $20.00 per year. Now you also have the option of having a banner ad put on the page for only $50.00 per year which includes a link. To have your business listed on the website is free, but we will cover our costs with Links. Give your business some class. If you do not have a website for your business, website design and webspace is very reasonable. Call 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net. We are always open to suggestions.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we enter the holiday season and the rat race of life recycles itself, Father, may we keep our perspective in line. May we remember to put You first in all that we do and may we remember what the season is all about. We come to You today asking You to guide us and order our steps. Remind us of Your conditions so that our every need can be met. Cause us to search ourselves and see if we can improve in some area. Help us to be overcomers ruled by Your spirit, and not by the things of this world.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen
