OUTLAWS TO THE RESCUE

Oatman -
The Oatman Outlaws are donating bicycles again this year to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. The Oatman Outlaws, who put on a gunfight everyday at high noon in Oatman on Route 66, donated 10 new bicycles. The MCSO personnel work with the Kingman Salvation Army to collect bikes for underprivileged children in Mohave County.
The group headed by Rod "Outlaw Willie" Hall and his wife Sultana, presented Sergeant Mike Friend with their donations. "Their generosity of donating 10 bikes will truly help as the Salvation Army has given us more names of underprivileged children this year, "We're very grateful for the donation" said Friend.
The MCSO would like to thank everyone who has participated in making a child's dream come true on Christmas day.

NO MORE FLU SHOTS
Tri-State -
Many residents throughout the area are complaining of various seasonal illnesses and hospitals are full. Mohave County Health Department is running low on flu vaccines. Lake Havasu and Bullhead offices are out of adult flu vaccines and Kingman has a very limited supply. Meanwhile, the department recommends that if you think you have the flu, call your health care provider first. Don't just go into the office, because if you do have the flu, it is contagious and you will pass it on to other people in the office. Drink plenty of fluids and make sure that you get plenty of rest. School districts across the Tri-State area are seeing an increase in absences because of the illnesses going around ranging from 11 to 17 percent in the area.

New Law Protects Consumer Credit, Protects Against Identity Theft
President Bush has signed into law the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003, which the White House says will ensure that all citizens are treated fairly when they apply for a mortgage or other form of credit. The legislation will provide consumers, companies, consumer reporting agencies, and regulators with important new tools that expand access to credit and other financial services for all Americans, enhance the accuracy of consumers' financial information, and help fight identity theft, according to Bush.

WINDOWS 98 RETIRES
Microsoft -
A new research paper was released on Thursday warning those anyone still running Microsoft Windows 98 that they face an increased risk of a network security breach when Microsoft retires the product at the end of this year.
Microsoft is preparing to retire a number of its flagship products. There are still a large number of PCs around running Windows 98 and Windows 95.
On January 16th, 2004, Microsoft Windows 98 is considered obsolete, and security-based hot fixes will not be generally available for users of Windows 98.
Anyone with Windows 95 or 98-based PC with access to the Internet should strongly consider migrating to Windows XP.

OPINIONS
by Pearl Ritter -
This is an opinion regarding the dogs that are running loose in Golden Shores. These are not wild dogs as some have collars, licenses, and look well kept. Dogs roam the streets due to owners not having them on a leash or chained, keeping them in an open yard so they roam, or people let them out to go to the bathroom (of course in other peoples yards). They cause other dogs that are in their own yards to bark at all hours of the day and night. They turn over garbage cans into the yards and in the middle of the streets, steal things off peoples porches, and makes you wonder if you should go in your own yard to get the paper because you don't know if they would attack. The problem seems to be getting worse and worse around the WaterReed area, and I have talked to others that say they are having the same problems in upper Golden Shores. Calling Animal Control is some help, but it's a hard job for them to track these dogs. Dog owners should keep their animals in their yard and not allow them to roam freely through the neighborhoods. I understand there is a leash law here and it's not right some dog owners do obey the law and take care of their animals and others do not.
Sometimes someone has an opinion or something to say about what is going on in our community. If you have an opinion you would like to put in this publication, please bring it by the office or email it to us. We reserve the right to edit or refuse it, of course, but at least take a chance at it. As long as it is not slanderous or defamatory, we'll probably print it. You might even want to say something nice about someone or something. Email news@goldenshores.net.
PROBLEMS GETTING THIS PUBLICATION
G.S. -
A lot of people are being cut off from our mailing list because of the spam filters on the Frontier internet email service. We are starting to get back a lot of emails saying, "Spam messages are not being accepted by...", so if you are not getting, or stop getting your email from us, it is not because we have stopped, it's because of the spam filters you have setup on your Frontier email service. You need to make gsnews@goldenshores.net as one of your "friends".
EDITOR NEEDED
The editor of this paper AND The Civic needs an assistant. I need someone that I can train to possibly take over in the event something happens to me. Besides, this little paper is growing very fast and there is going to be room for expansion soon. It would be part time work, but you must be quite computer literate. There is no pay from the Civic Association, so the hours and pay are low, but great potential. If interested, call me at 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net.
G.S. WEBSITE GETS NEW LOOK
We're always looking for ways to improve the Golden Shores website. The traffic on this website is greatly increasing. We have a new host and we have removed all hyperlinks on the Golden Shores website unless there is paid advertising.
The website has been moved to a non-commercial, popup free hosting space. This new space is not supported by popup advertising screens. This costs money, but not much. The cost to continue to have your Website Links and Email Links is only $20.00 per year. Now you also have the option of having a banner ad put on the page for only $50.00 per year which includes a link. To have your business listed on the website is free, but we will cover our costs with Links. Give your business some class. If you do not have a website for your business, website design and webspace is very reasonable. Call 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net. We are always open to suggestions.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You today that you are God over broken appliances and limping computers, but more than that You are the repairer of broken hearts and the restorer of broken dreams. As we draw close to Christmas and the Celebration of the birth of our Savior, we ask that You help us to draw close to You and that You minister grace to every hurt and every wounded spirit, especially those caused by us, Your Children. Forgive us Lord help us to be less judgemental and become more sensitive to the needs of those around us.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen
