DRINK & DRIVE - YOU LOSE

Mohave County -
As families and friends come together all over Mohave County to celebrate this holiday season, Mohave County Sheriff's Office wants drivers to know that if they choose to drink and drive, they will lose! This holiday season, the Sheriff's Office is supporting law enforcement agencies nationwide in taking a major step in intensifying the fight against impaired driving by participating in "You Drink & Drive. You Lose" campaign. This campaign is targeted toward reducing the number of people that may be injured during this holiday season while driving under the influence of alcohol. There will be increased patrols during the holidays and they have set up message boards throughout the county encouraging the public to "Buckle Up' while driving and warning the public. If you plan to drink, plan ahead and arrange for a designated driver or take a cab.

WOMEN'S CLUB CHRISTMAS DINNER

G.S. -
By Luke Boyer, VFW 6306 Aux.
Golden Shores Women's Club installed officers for 2004 at its Christmas Party/Installation on Dec. 13. Treasurer Eva Chisolm, Jennifer Wright standing in for Secretary Lynne Gotshall who was unable to attend, Vice President Imogene Wright and President Pat Colloran were sworn in by Topock Elementary Principal Brett Agenbroad.
The swearing-in took place after the Christmas dinner of roast pork with dressing. Topock Elementary School provided entertainment with holiday songs and a mini-drama with Jenae Wolf playing mother and Alicia Cummings and Raven Carpenter portraying her children who didn't know what to get mother for Christmas. After asking for suggestions, the children decided to wrap themselves in Christmas paper with ribbon and gave her love for a Christmas gift. The entertainment concluded with everyone singing "I'd like to teach the world to sing."

LAST XP SERVICE PACK
Microsoft -
With Windows 95 and 98 now becoming extinct and the new Longhorn operating system coming out next year, Microsoft has kicked off the campaign for the company's next big Windows push: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Tuesday morning, Microsoft Security Business Unit Vice President Mike Nash said to expect the service pack a major release to enhance security in four ways. It will remedy open ports, malicious e-mail attachments, malicious Web content and buffer overrun attacks. Testers should begin receiving SP2 code before the end of this month via TechNet Plus and/or the Microsoft Developer Network. Many observers are expecting Microsoft to start getting code into testers' hands as early as this week.

EDITOR NEEDED
The editor of this paper AND The Civic needs an assistant. I need someone that I can train to possibly take over in the event something happens to me. Besides, this little paper is growing very fast and there is going to be room for expansion soon. It would be part time work, but you must be quite computer literate. There is no pay from the Civic Association, so the hours and pay are low, but great potential. If interested, call me at 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net.

PROBLEMS GETTING THIS PUBLICATION
G.S. -
A lot of people are being cut off from our mailing list because of the spam filters on the Frontier internet email service. We are starting to get back a lot of emails saying, "Spam messages are not being accepted by...", so if you are not getting, or stop getting your email from us, it is not because we have stopped, it's because of the spam filters you have setup on your Frontier email service. You need to make gsnews@goldenshores.net as one of your "friends".
G.S. WEBSITE GETS NEW LOOK
We're always looking for ways to improve the Golden Shores website. The traffic on this website is greatly increasing. We have a new host and we have removed all hyperlinks on the Golden Shores website unless there is paid advertising.
The website has been moved to a non-commercial, popup free hosting space. This new space is not supported by popup advertising screens. This costs money, but not much. The cost to continue to have your Website Links and Email Links is only $20.00 per year. Now you also have the option of having a banner ad put on the page for only $50.00 per year which includes a link. To have your business listed on the website is free, but we will cover our costs with Links. Give your business some class. If you do not have a website for your business, website design and webspace is very reasonable. Call 768-1400 or email ys@goldenshores.net. We are always open to suggestions.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for Your loving kindness that is better than life to us. Thank You for surrounding us with songs of holiday joy and shouts of deliverance and favor like a shield. We rest in the shelter of our Savior whose birthday we celebrate this season. Father, we know that we can never thank You enough for what you have done for us. We can only praise You and trust in Your Word that Jesus is Your Son and that He died and rose again that we will have forgiveness of our wrongdoings and will someday spend eternal life with You forever and ever. Lord we just pray that you will help us to enlighten our friends and relatives with this gospel truth so they may all join us in that glorious place You are preparing for us.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen
