ANOTHER HOUSE BURNS

G.S. -
Wednesday night shortly after 10:00 p.m. the Golden Shores Fire Department responded to a fire on Pecos street, next door to the house that burned twice last month. This house was a single-wide mobile that had just been remodeled and the owner had just put in all new appliances. The owner, Paul Robert said, "After the one next door burned last month, I called the insurance company and put fire insurance on it. They haven't even had time to get the check." The fire was obviously arson as the one next door. The flames were already high when the call came in. There was no one living in the house at this time. The house appears to be a total loss. Firefighters were quite proficient in preventing the fire from spreading to other buildings. The fire department still needs your help in finding the arsonist. They have leads, but not enough without witnesses. Please call the fire department if you have any information at 768-4546 during business hours. You can be kept annonymous or your name can be kept confidential if you prefer.

EXPLOSIONS AVERTED
Mohave Valley -
A large wood shed was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon in Mohave Valley. The fire broke out in a shed at the BY Ranch in the 6000 block of Bradley Drive at about 4 p.m. and left oxygen tanks and two large diesel fuel tanks about 100 feet from the building in danger. The Fort Mojave Mesa and Mohave Valley fire departments responded to the blaze and were able to prevent more explosions than the initial oxygen tank that alerted neighbors to the problem. There were no injuries reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
AIRPORT SECURITY BREACH
Bullhead City -
A man was arrested Tuesday for trespassing after he breached security at the Bullhead/Laughlin International Airport. The incident began Monday when Bullhead City Police were called to a private section of the airport along Highway 95 where Marcus Gray, 48, allegedly walked through an open door into a hangar and climbed into a parked jet. Officers found the man sitting in the jet and he told them he had never seen one before and just wanted to look at it. He was told to leave and did so, but came back Tuesday to the same area and refused to leave. He was taken into custody and the airport is examining their security to find out how the situation occurred.

HAPPY EASTER
G.S. -
This Easter we are aware of the success of Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ”. This has brought home to many the incredible physical suffering of our Savior. What struck me was His utter humiliation, and the incredible emotional anguish He suffered as He was separated from His Father on our behalf, and cried out, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” As we consider a world filled with turmoil and death, take time this weekend to reflect on the life made available to us through the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. Then rejoice in the knowledge that death has lost its sting, and is swallowed up in the victory of the resurrection! Have a blessed and holy Easter weekend.

DAVIS DAM TO CLOSE
Bullhead City/Laughlin -
The Bureau of Reclamation recently sent out a press release that declares April 12 at 8 a.m. the definite date of closure for Davis Dam to vehicle traffic for an indefinite time period. The BOR stated that they will be consulting with local communities on the impact, but this will go in effect for an indefinite time period.
In addition the BOR said the closure is a result of ongoing assessments of security needs at the dam. They contend this measure will protect the dam and ensure the safety of citizens in Bullhead City, Laughlin, and other communities that lie around the Colorado River. Last week Laughlin Town Advisory Board officials joined the growing number of government bodies opposed to the recent announcement of the closure. The Bureau of Reclamation's Lower Colorado Dams Office area manager Tim Ulrich told the board the decision is final and cannot change or delay the “many-layered” decision, but will take what they said into consideration.

ADOT BLASTING HWY 93
Kingman -
The long awaited widening of highway 93 is in progress. The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning motorists using US Highway 93 between Kingman and Wickenburg that delays are likely as they conduct blasting operations in the area of Burro Creek much of the week. Blasting hours will be between 7 and 9 a.m. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the area.
FROM THE GOVERNOR

Phoenix -
Many homeowners are not aware that, in Arizona, contractors are required to be licensed with the state. As a result, unlicensed contractors prey on unsuspecting consumers, particularly for home-repair and remodeling jobs. Last year, Arizonans were conned out of more than $25 million of their hard-earned money for home-repair scams by unlicensed contractors, with the elderly at a much higher risk of becoming victims. These contractors may offer a great deal on a roofing job or an asphalt driveway, for example, but then do a poor job or not at all. Homeowners have often paid up front for the job, but the contractor is nowhere to be found.
The Neighborhood Ambassador Program reaches out to homeowners through neighborhood associations and Block Watch groups to provide education and information to members of the community.
If you are approached by an unlicensed contractor or observe this type of activity, please call the Registrar of Contractors' Investigative Unit at 602-542-1525, ext. 7558.

INCREASE IN AD RATES
G.S. -
Advertisement rates are on the increase in Golden Shores. Both The Civic and GSX ad rates are going up April 1st. Ad prices have been so low for so long that it is hard for either paper to make any money, or even break even. The new ad rates are still much lower than any other publication around.
Why does Golden Shores eXtra need advertisers? Well, just like the television you watch, radio you listen to, and newspaper you read, GSX is a valuable free public service that requires the support of our sponsors. Thank you for including our sponsors' advertising as a part of your weekly GSX experience. Call or email about advertising rates: 768-1400 or gsnews@goldenshores.net.
BUSTER'S BILL FAILS
Kingman -
A bill backed by Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson has side in the State Senate. S.C.R. 1042, the Residential property tax valuation limitation bill failed to make it through, however a new version of the bill will be attached to S.C.R. 1021. It was read in front of the Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday. The results of that meeting is not yet known.
LAWYER CONFIDENT
Kingman -
The Phoenix attorney representing Mohave County supervisor Buster Johnson has attempted to clarify some misinformation involving the matter pending before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
As an elected official, Johnson is personally exempt from allegations of sexual harassment brought by two former office workers, according to lawyer Rick Cohen. Since it's a non-criminal matter, Cohen said Johnson is accountable only to the people and that the county is the liable party for any alleged harassment. Cohen said that's why he finds it deplorable that Mohave County Personnel Director Geoff Riches was quick to conclude that Johnson sexually harassed former office aides Marisa Tusa and Kelly McMahon. Cohen said Riches failed to consider defenses offered by Johnson that might help the county.

SR-95 ALMOST DONE
Lake Havasu City -
The end is much closer in the ongoing $19 million improvements to State Route 95. Arizona Department of Transportation and Construction crews are finishing up the paving work, and are also busy with additional minor clean up items. That list should take an additional four to six weeks to complete. ADOT and the city expect the stoplights to be back to normal operation by the end of this month.

Reuters News Agency, API and UPI report that the French Government announced today that in
light of the Madrid bombing, France has raised it's terror alert level

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are ever grateful for the love You give us. You sent Your Son so that He would die upon the cross on that dreadful, yet glorious day, for those that believe in You not only can have forgiveness of our sins, but so that we can come before You "as white as snow" and with the knowledge from Your Word that You are preparing a place for us in that Great Kingdom where we can praise You forever and ever. Help us concentrate our thoughts and channel our emotions to the work of the Kingdom. Help us submit ourselves to Your will today and everyday. We ask you to be a very present help in every area of our lives.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen

Was Jesus really raised from the dead?
After all, if Jesus is raised from the dead, then
Christianity is true and only a fool would not become
a Christian.
But if Jesus was not raised from the dead, then I
am the fool -- along with every other Christian!
So, which is it?
Was Jesus raised from the dead?
Or was the Resurrection... and thereby Christianity... a hoax?
Perhaps this is a question you have been asking yourself,
or maybe you are just interested in gaining a greater
understanding about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You can get answers to these questions and more this
Sunday at Golden Shores Community Baptist Church.
NEED A RIDE TO CHURCH?

G.S. -
Golden Shores Community Baptist Church now has a bus. If you would like a ride to church on Sunday morning, or if you have children that would like to go, please call the church office at 768-2515.
ON THIS DAY...
On this date in 1974, baseball great Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run, breaking Babe Ruth's career record of 714 home runs.
Teach a child to be polite and courteous in the home and, when he grows up, he'll never be able to edge his car onto a freeway.
