DEHYDRATION AT THE RIVER
Topock -
Tuesday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., the G.S. Fire Department responded to the Topock Gorge Marina. Some people from Georgia were traveling through in an un-airconditioned vehicle and saw the Colorado River and decided to stop. It was reported the people were not drinking any water and when they got out into the heat they got dehydrated and had to call for help. Golden Shores Fire responded and was able to assist. The Golden Shores Fire Department recommends that you DRINK LOTS OF WATER! In this kind of heat your body requires a lot of water. You should also carry water in your vehicle in case you get stranded somewhere.

BUSTER JOHNSON ON NUCLEAR
Kingman -
Supervisor Buster Johnson's office attended a meeting called by Senator Linda Binder with the officials from the National Nuclear Security Administration about concerns over the testing taking place at the Nevada Nuclear Test Site. Supervisor Johnson reports that underground experiments are taking place but not to the level that would harm our residents. They have a three lock security system in place in the event of any accident. The United States is the only country not replacing aging nuclear weapons with new ones. It is necessary to conduct tests on our stockpile for safety and reliability. It is important that our weapons are not a threat to our own citizens. The agency will keep us informed of any change in plans to upgrade the experiments.
BODY FOUND IN RIVER
Bullhead City -
The body of a Bullhead City teenager was discovered in the Colorado River Saturday. Carrie Conner, of the Bullhead City Police Department, said Ricky Clark was reportedly swimming in the river. "He and a buddy or some friends were going to try and cross the river to the island. The buddy said it got real tough trying to swim. Clark said, 'I can't do this.' So he told (Clark) to go back. The last time the buddy saw him, he was standing, I guess, on a private dock between a pontoon boat and some jetskis. Told him to stay there. He would come back with some help."
Conner added that the cause of death has not yet been determined pending autopsy and toxicology reports. It is not known how or why Clark ended up in the water. The police await autopsy results before declaring a cause of death.
WEST NILE VIRUS WORSENS
Arizona -
In eleven of Arizona's fifteen counties including Mohave County, health officials have found mosquitoes and other animals carrying West Nile Virus. The state continues to lead the nation in reported human cases of the virus. West Nile has infected residents ranging from only three months to 87 years old. Of the 114 cases suffered in the state this year, 28% developed encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), 35% were diagnosed with meningitis (inflammation of the spinal cord), and 12% came down with West Nile fever. Health officials continue to issue warnings to get rid of standing water and other mosquito-breeding sites, and recommend the use of repellents containing the chemical DEET.

AMBER ALERT SYSTEM WORKING
Arizona -
The expanded Amber Alert system was used for the first time this week by state officials in Arizona and Washington, and Nevada is expected to be the third state to deploy the system. Police and other officials in Nevada should be able to send Amber Alerts from a highly encrypted system in their cars, and update them with pictures and more detailed descriptions later. This allows the basic information to reach the public that much faster. Nine other states are expected to launch the expanded alerts later this summer. In case you haven't looked at the Golden Shores website lately, there is an Amber Alert bar at the top of the page. Do you think I should add it to the news page? Let me hear from you.
FROM THE GOVERNOR

Phoenix -
Last week I represented Arizona at a meeting of the National Governors Association, where Governors from around the country met to discuss Homeland Security, elder care issues and affordable long-term care to America's seniors.
Here in Arizona, my administration is working closely with authorities and continuing to monitor the power supply shortage and the fires around the state. Congratulations to everyone who is conserving energy. Keep it up, because it is helping all of us to avoid rolling blackouts. (She skirted right around that issue, didn't she?)

YUCCA MOUNTAIN PROJECT ALIVE
Nevada -
A Federal Appeals Court decision on Yucca Mountain continues to spark debate in Nevada and around the country. Nevada Senator John Ensign says the decision is important because it offers a glimmer of hope that the dump may be stopped. But Senator Ensign says the fight is far from over.
"We're going to continue to do everything we can to delay Yucca Mountain. You know, every year that we delay it is another year that we don't have nuclear waste in Nevada. So, delay can eventually lead to death."
The law in the ruling requires a standard of 300,000 years and Senator John Ensign says he'd like to see some of the money used to find an alternative to the dump. "One of the things I'm trying to work on is, that I've been working with Senator [Harry] Reid, is get funding for recycling nuclear waste. Instead of burying it in the ground, it just makes a heck of a lot of sense, if we can develop the technology to recycle nuclear waste. That would be a much better use of this resource."
Senator Ensign went on to say a deal has already been struck for the project and the appropriation will be the same as last year: $570 million.

A few days later the boy was looking at his moms drivers license and told his mom I know how old you are, and she said how old? He said 26. WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You asking You to meet the need of everyone who might receive this prayer. We ask You Lord to remember what they are made of, knowing they cannot stand up under a continous attack of the enemy without divine intervention. We pray Lord God for all their needs to be supplied according to your Word. You said You lead them beside still waters and restore their souls, You said You prepare their tables and give them abundance.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
