TWO DEAD, TWO MISSING, THREE INJURED IN BOAT CRASH
Topock -
At around 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning 9/6 Labor Day, a 1998 Renegade Jet Boat was reportedly traveling southbound on the river with eight people aboard traveling at an estimated speed of 35-40 mph when it crashed into one of the pillars at the Interstate 40 Topock bridge. All occupants of the boat were ejected into the water and the boat sank. Of the eight people aboard, two are dead, two had minor injuries, two were taken to CRMC with serious injuries and two are still missing. As of this writing, search and rescue teams are still searching for the two missing. There have been at least 5 boats, 3 divers and a DPS helicopter assisting with the search. News reporters have not been allowed on the scene because it is considered "an active crime scene" because alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The bodies of Jennifer Knight, 24, of Corona, CA, and Ryan McMahan, 27, of Mohave Valley were recovered by divers near the bridge that connects Arizona and California, according to a San Bermardino County Sheriff's Department report. Rory McMahan and Dale Baldwin are still missing.
The driver of the boat, Scott Eickhoff of Anaheim Hills, CA, was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and felony boating under the influence. Eickhoff, 31, is being held on $100,000 bond. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Boating Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the collision.
CA MAN DIVES TO DEATH
Lake Mohave -
Two separate cliff-diving accidents over the weekend led to a death on Lake Mohave and serious injuries near Big Bend Colorado River State Park in Laughlin. Erik Middleton, 32, of Ontario, CA died at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday after reportedly jumping from a 25 foot cliff in an area knows as Gasolone Alley. The area is about 3 miles north of Katherine Landing on the Arizona side of the lake. Wittnesses said he did a 360° turn and hit the water at an odd angle. Middleton did not surface. Employees with the National Park Service, Bullhead City Fire and Police Departments, AZ Game & Fish and NV Department of Wildlife recovered the body, which according to the release, was found in 41 feet of water.
In an unrelated incident a boy was flown to a hospital in Las Vegas Sunday evening after jumping from a cliff near Big Bend Colorado River State Park. A Witness reportedly told police the boy had jumped and hit the side of the cliff on the way down, said Carrie Connor, Bullhead City Police Department. American Medical Response, Clark County Fire and Bullhead City Police responded to the scene.

ELECTION - BUSTER STAYS!
Mohave County -
Mohave County Supervisors have claimed unofficial victories in Tuesday's republican primary election. The closest race was in District III where Buster Johnson apparently turned back the challenge of Richard Zalewski.
Johnson ended up with 242 more votes than Zalewski 3161-2919. County officials said Wednesday that approximately 1,000 or more ballots remained to be processed and added to the totals.
Barring any change in the vote processing expected to continue into the weekend; Johnson has earned another four-year term, as there were no Democrats or Independents in the field.
U.S. Congressman Trent Franks defeated Lake Havasu City businessman Rick Murphy by nearly 13,000 votes, although Murphy did win in Mohave County. Franks will now face Democratic challenger Randy Camacho, who defeated his Primary opponents nearly two to one.
In the Arizona State Legislative races for district three, former Lake Havasu City Council member Ron Gould will go to Phoenix as the area’s next State Senator. with 40-percent of the votes.

FROM THE GOVERNOR

Phoenix -
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the shipment of nuclear waste through the state.
Shortly after Interstate 40 was shut down last month due to the possibility of a radioactive leak from a shipment of Uranium Tetrafluoride (UF4), I wrote a letter to Department of Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham asking for a procedural review.
In the letter, I wrote, “…even though no radioactive material was released, there appears to be a systematic weakness in your shipping and packaging procedures.”
In addition to the problems seen August 15th, the Governor also cited a leakage concern from December 1997 in Kingman.
Repeated attempts to contact the D.O.E. for comment on this letter were unsuccessful.
Also, this week I met with Mexico's Sonora Governor Eduardo Bours to discuss how we can increase the viability of the Port of Guaymas. Less than 250 miles from our international border, Guaymas is a natural trade outlet for both Arizona and Mexico. Its expansion can benefit both of our countries by providing increased commerce opportunities through Sonora and Arizona.
A deep-water port in Guaymas can improve the supply chain into Arizona and promote opportunities for our business owners. Together we can create economic growth and vision for both of our countries, improving the quality of life for Arizonans and our neighbors to the south.
Please don't hesitate to contact my office at (800) 253-0883 or visit my website at www.governor.state.az.us.

PRO-LIFE, PRO-FAMILY WIN BIG!
Phoenix -
The headlines said it all: “Legislature heading for sharp right-turn,” (East Valley Tribune); “Conservatives oust GOP moderates,” “Moderates fizzle out,” (Arizona Republic). KTAR reported last night that “it’s a big night for the religious right” in Arizona politics. Once again, the only people in Arizona shocked and disappointed by the outcome of a primary election are liberal interest groups, liberal candidates and the liberal media. The door is now open for a legislative agenda more friendly to the preservation of marriage and defense of the sanctity of life! For that we are grateful and blessed today!
About 800 people participated in our seven consecutive days of worship and prayer for the election, which concluded last night in a packed room as early election returns began to roll in. I know all those who participated were blessed. A special word of thanks for arranging these spiritually significant events goes to CAP’s prayer coordinator, Guy Chadwick, along with worship leader Daniel Brymer, and Hal and Cheryl Sacks of BridgeBuilders International.

Bullhead City Mayor Diane Vick released a statement Wednesday afternoon, extending the city’s sympathies to Williams’ family, friends, and co-workers.
BANK ROBBERY HALTED
Lake Havasu City -
Some stolen property including a .357 magnum handgun taken from a home, was recovered when LHC Police responded to the First Arizona Savings Bank. A police detective alerted BHCPD of a suspicious person in the bank parking lot. When Lucy and JT Moffett left their home in Boca Raton, FL. to open an inspirational bookstore in Lake Havasu City, they came to their north side home last week and found it had been burglarized of roughly $10-Thousand worth of the their belongings, including at least one gun. JT Moffett said he used to work in security prior to moving to Havasu and said he believes the burglary was planned and that the culprit had been watching him for sometime. Additional property was recovered when police questioned then arrested Wayne Franklin Noice, age 24, on a number of drug, weapons and burglary charges. Noice is a prohibited possessor found in possession of a loaded firearm and several other items reported stolen in a residential burglary earlier in the week. A quantity of methamphetamine was also found in the search.

TOPOCK SCHOOL TAX CREDITS
G.S. -
Arizona is fortunate to offer a tax credit on state taxes. Any taxpayer may contribute up to $200.00 per individual or $250.00 per couple to any fee-required extra curricular activity offered at the school. This is a direct credit, not a deduction. That means it is subtracted from taxes you owe and is fully refunded for up to $250.00. For example, if you owe $400.00 for the year in Arizona state income taxes and give $250.00 to a school, you would only owe $150.00 for the tax year. It literally costs you nothing to give the $250.00. It comes back to you as a credit, refund, or reduction.
We urge you to help share this message with all Arizona tax payers, your friends, neighbors and relatives. Any resident of Arizona may take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to help the students of Topock.
For assistance or questions, please call 768-3344.
Sincerely,
Topock Elementary Governing Board & Administration
THERE'S GOLD OUT THERE
Bouse -
West Africa Gold is continuing to re-evaluate their mining properties in western Arizona. They recently announced the revaluation of the Mockingbird project in Mohave County. On Tuesday, they released their findings at the Bouse property in La Paz County. Geologist Dr. Wayne Colliston identified a “detachment fault” at the Bouse property similar to the one found recently on the Mockingbird project. The “detachment fault” style of deposit is best seen at Copperstone, the biggest gold discovery in Arizona in the past 50 years.
A value estimate for the gold deposit is in the range of up to $600 million, and that does not include any silver or copper also found on the Bouse property.
