FIRE STARTER ARRESTED
G.S. -
Mohave County Sheriff's detectives arrested David Keith Evans, 33, late Friday morning 10/1 on four felony warrants and three misdemeanor warrants. All four felony warrants were issued by Bullhead City Justice court for arson of structure/property, criminal damage, theft and trafficking in stolen property. Both misdemeanor warrants were issued by Bullhead City Justice court for failure to comply with court order and harassing/threatening calls. Approximately 11:30 a.m., detectives contacted Evans regarding his outstanding warrants. Evans was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail. During an on-going arson investigation, Evans was a strong investigative lead in the arson fires set in Golden Shores. MSCO spokeswoman Trish Carter said a shed in the 5300 block of Pinal Place was burned August 17. Carter confirmed detectives are trying to determine whether Evans may be responsible for a number of other arson incidents that remain under investigation in Golden Shores. Carter said, in addition to arson, Evans is charged with criminal damage, theft, trafficking in stolen property felony offenses and misdemeanors involving failure to appear in court and harassment. The investigation continues.

20 DIE AT LAKE MEAD THIS YEAR
Lake Mead -
Most people in Golden Shores were unaware of the tornado warnings in Mohave County over the weekend. The weather turned rough and deadly Monday night as 50 mile-per-hour winds kicked up 6-foot waves and swamped a 23-foot Sea-Ray. The two Las Vegas men were fishing when their boat capsized and one of the men made it to an island near Echo Bay by staying with the boat while it sank. The other man was not able to stay with the boat and NPS Rangers recovered the body the next morning. The drowning victim is identified as Donnel Horn, 50. ARREST LEADS TO BODY
Bullhead City -
BHC police observed a '95 BMW on Thursday 10/7, ran a check on the vehicle and discovered that the operator was not the owner. Officers went to the registered address which appeared to have been burglarized with window screens cut and the door open. Upon entry they discovered the remains of a human male which was badly decomposed and appeared to have been there for several months. The interior of the residence appeared to have been ransacked. Officers then brought in the operator of the vehicle for questioning. They learned that the vehicle had originally been in the possession of suspect Mark Anthony Graae, 33, of Bullhead City. Officers then went to Suspect Graae’s last know address and observed in plain sight two checkbooks in the name of the registered owner of the vehicle. Graae was also in the possession of a fraudulent drivers license in the registered owners name, as well as in possession of dangerous drugs. Graae was arrested on numerous charges and the investigation continues as a homocide.
WAL-MART ROBBER STOPPED
Bullhead City -
On Sunday 10/4 at around 6:00 p.m. BHC Police responded to a robbery call at Wal-Mart. The victim, Gary Roddy, a Loss Prevention store employee, stated that he observed the suspect conceal merchandise in the front of his pants and attempt to leave the store and attempted to stop the suspect from leaving. The suspect, later identified as Amos W. Coombs, 22, struggled with Roddy as he attempted to detain him. Coombs then produced a black pocketknife with the blade open and stated, “I’m going to cut you.” During the struggle Victim Roddy was cut on the left wrist and right forearm. Another Wal-Mart employee that had arrived during the struggle pushed the suspects arm, holding the knife up against the window of the front door pinning it. The suspect was then placed in handcuffs awaiting arrival of police.
When the police officer had the suspect stand up, to search for any further weapons, three DVD’s and one CD fell from the inside of his pants. Approximately $75.44 of property was recovered and returned to the store. Coombs was arrested for Armed Robbery and transported to the Kingman Jail.

FROM THE GOVERNOR

Phoenix -
Earlier this week, the nation received unexpected news: half of the nation’s supply of flu vaccine will not be available because it may be tainted.
In order to ensure that there is enough for those who are especially vulnerable to the flu, health officials and the governor's office are urging healthy adults to consider foregoing a flu shot this year so that children and adults in high-risk groups can receive the vaccine.
Those who need the vaccine the most are babies and toddlers ages 6-23 months, people 65 or older, anyone with a chronic condition such as heart or lung disease, pregnant women, nursing home residents, children on aspirin therapy, health care workers who care for high-risk groups, and anyone who cares for or lives with babies younger than 6 months.
Please don't hesitate to contact my office at (800) 253-0883 or visit my website at www.governor.state.az.us.

Bullhead City -

The Narcotics Bureau had information that the occupants of the residence were selling narcotics and that the suspects kept weapons inside the residence. Prior to entry the S.W.A.T. team deployed a Diversionary Device that causes a loud noise and bright flash to temporarily startle the suspects. Officers found both suspects and approximately 13.6 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun laying on the bed in the master bedroom. They also discovered a sawed off shotgun and a .22 caliber Mossberg rifle. Samuel Bugarin Rivera, 34, was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and 2 counts of misconduct involving a weapon. Kyle Marcum Shellito, 42 years of age, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
TRIBES NOT GETTING CASINO MONEY
Phoenix -
A recent news blurb escaped the attention of most people, but you don't want to miss this lead paragraph: "A lobbyist who billed American Indian tribes tens of millions of dollars for work on casino issues refused Wednesday to answer questions from the Senate Indian Affairs Committee." Jack Abramoff, who called his Native American clients "morons," "monkeys" and "stupid idiots" in e-mails, but charged them $66 million for lobbying, is also accused of manipulating two tribal elections to ensure his firm would get lobbying contracts with those tribes. Once again, we see the corruption involved in casino gambling, and the continued exploitation of Native Americans with the false promise that casinos will solve all their problems. Center for Arizona Policy.

G.S. WORKER DRUG ARREST
Kingman -
Mohave County Sheriff's detectives arrested Brian Lee Hobbs, 24, of Golden Valley, late Friday morning 10/1 for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies, and two misdemeanor warrants. At around 11:20 a.m. detectives conducted a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Northern Avenue and contacted the driver, Hobbs. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic bag of methamphetamine, plastic bag of marijuana and a tin box containing a pipe. WARRANT ARREST - KINGMAN -
Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Nicole Amber Roe, 20, of Kingman Monday on a felony warrant involving theft of a credit card issued by Kingman Justice Court. Roe was taken and booked into the Mohave County Jail. I'm sure this was mis-wording on the newswire, but why would the Kingman Justice Court have issued a credit card to someone with a warrant?

SEPTEMBER WEATHER SUMMARY
G.S. -
The low temperature of the month was 59.2°F which occurred on the 23rd. On the 2nd, the high temperature of the month peaked at 110.9°F. The Average low and high were 70.5°F and 99.6°F respectively. After a wet August, only .045 inch of rain fell throughout the month. Extreme lightning and wind did accompany the rains which occurred on the 11th, 18th and 19th. September was a cooler and dryer month than 2003, 2002 and 2000 making it the coolest September this century! September's winds also began occasional shifts to the north signifying the end of the monsoon season.
WEATHER FACT: The ocean affects weather storing and releasing the sun's heat. Water can hold about 4 times as much energy as air can, and there's a lot more of it. The mass of all the earth's atmosphere equals a layer of water only 33 feet deep. More than half of the sun's energy that reaches the earth is absorbed, reflected or dissipated in the atmosphere: only 43% strikes the surface, but it causes all our weather.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come into agreement with Your Word that NO weapon formed against us shall prosper. We agree together that spirits of avarice and greed that control the fuel prices are bound from operating successfully. We ask You to send ministering angels to each home to bring in the finances neccessary to keep Your people warm and safe, warring angels to fight the battle that is raging in this area. We say greater is He that is in us!
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
