WOMEN TRAPPED IN SACRAMENTO WASH
Topock -
The Golden Shores Fire Department rescue teams responded two times on Monday to the Sacramento Wash. The first time was at around 6:30 a.m. and the second time was at around 8:00 p.m. In both cases the drivers were female and one of them had two cats with her in the car. Both drivers had attempted to cross the Wash while water was running briskly. In both cases the water had taken them off the road and they were sitting in the water unable to move and in need of rescue. In both cases the rescue teams were able to bring the victims out of the water and there were no injuries. One of the drivers was cited for entering a wash while water running which is against the law. Both drivers could have been injuried or could have died. The G.S. Fire department wishes to remind everyone that you are NOT to cross a wash that has running water. It can be very dangerous. In the case of Sacramento Wash, we don't even have to get a lot of rain here in order for the was to run. It can rain a lot at or between here and Kingman and the wash can have a lot of water.
G.S. FELON NABBED ON WARRANT
Mohave Valley -
Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jonathan William Platt, 41, of Golden Shores, Friday morning 11/5 on a felony warrant for aggravated assault on law enforcement officer issued by Bullhead City Justice Court, and on two misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear, both issued by Bullhead City Justice Court. On Friday morning, deputies responded to a suspicious call on De Soto Drive regarding a white van. Deputies contacted the male suspect, identified as Platt, standing near the van. A records check showed Platt to have outstanding warrants. Platt was taken into custody without incident.
BOAT NOISE TO BE ABATED
Lake Havasu City -
Several agencies met this week to discuss the enforcement of noise laws on Lake Havasu.
According to Lake Havasu State Park Manager Brian Pendley, the meeting is important because boat noise laws and their enforcement has become a large issue on Lake Havasu. Pendley said he hopes this meeting will clarify the laws so that all the agencies interpret things the same way. About thirteen separate agencies share responsibility for the lake and it’s law enforcement, which can be confusing.

TWO FOUND DEAD AFTER ACCIDENT
Wikieup -
A single vehicle traffic accident about 27 miles south of Wikieup Sunday 11/7 claimed the lives of Two Fountain Green, Utah residents. The Department of Public Safety identified the victims as Craig Olsen, 52 and Jackie Olsen, 48.
According to a DPS officer, the van driven by Mrs. Olsen left Hwy. 93 for an unknown reason. The roadway was wet at the time. After leaving the roadway the vehicle struck a large boulder. The wreckage and the bodies of the victims were discovered Sunday morning.

EXTORTION FOLLOWED BY ARREST
Bullhead City -
On 10/29 Mr. Dave Lords, the president of Laughlin Ranch, LLC, contacted the Bullhead City Police Department and reported that Steven Rapacz, 39 of Bullhead City, had contacted him and attempted to obtain cash payment in the amount of $424,000, and additional tangible benefits, to ensure that the Laughlin Ranch project would progress. Rapacz is the owner/operator of Allstar Services Group.Inc.
Lords said that Rapacz proposed the Laughlin Ranch Development could move forward, regardless of the work product, if he would give him the $424,000. The Rapacz further offered to destroy documents if necessary. At that time, Lords offered to meet with the suspect at a later date, then contacted the Police.
On 11/5 another meeting with Racacz was arranged, which was monitored by members of the Bullhead City Police Department.
During this meeting Lords brought $125,000 in cash in a duffel bag as a partial payment.
Rapacz took possession of the bag and was arrested by Bullhead City Police while trying to leave the area in his car.
Suspect Rapacz was arrested for Theft by Extortion, a class 4 felony.
MIKE McDONALD WINS
G.S. -
According to the Mohave County election results website, Mike McDonald has unofficially won the race for Topock School board with 348 votes vs. 329 votes for Julia Vasquez. It appears that all the counting and recounting is done and Mike is the winner. There was a bit of controversy and some mudslinging going on, but now it's over. The staff at the school commented that the response was "somber" as they learned of the results.
"I am excited," said Mike McDonald, "I don't intend to butt heads with anyone, I just want to do what is good for the school and for the kids." Mike said he is going to a school for new board members in December and also hopes to get a tour of the school with Mr. Agenbroad and learn as much as possible so he can be an asset to the board and the school.
LAUGHLIN CASINO DAMAGED IN CHASE
Laughlin -
A high-speed vehicle and foot pursuit ended at a the Harrah's Laughlin hotel and casino early Friday morning. Las Vegas Metro police spotted a van with expired tags on Casino Drive, which took off when they attempted to pull the van over. The van was followed into the Harrah's parking lot where the driver, 36-year-old Hugh Boughan of Kingman, drove the van into the Baja Blue restaurant and backed into a police vehicle before attempting to elude police on foot. The chase continued through the hotel and kitchen before Boughan was brought to justice outside the building.
Police discovered the van was stolen from Kingman. A handgun was found in the vehicle. Boughan faces 10 charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and malicious destruction of private property.
Harrah's Laughlin declined to give an estimate how much damage was caused in the disturbance.

CHIEF DEPUTY SHERIFF SPEAKS
G.S. -
At the monthly Golden Shores Civic Association general meeting on Wednesday evening, Chief Deputy Jim McCabe spoke about the sheriff's presence in Golden Shores. He said that Mohave County is growing so fast that the sheriff's staff of officers is equivalent of that in 1984 because of lack of funds. Recently they had five officers resign in one day due to higher paying opportunities elsewhere. He explained that it takes almost a year to train a new officer and right now they have 21 openings for deputies.
Phil Villamor and John Warren explained the need for the presence of officers. McCabe said we cannot have full time officers in Golden Shores, but they will continue to use "strike teams" and "saturation patrols" to frequent Golden Shores. When asked if the residents of Golden Shores could "hire" an officer, his consolation was that we might be able to hire a "reserve officer" if we could find one willing to work. Ex-law enforcement that live in Golden Shores are not qualified unless they have a sponsor and recent law enforcement experience, meaning that they probably must be employed by a law enforcement agency.
McCabe also warned people of the illegalities and repurcussions regarding "citizen's arrests" and said we need to keep calling the sheriff everytime there is a problem, even if we do not get immediate results. In other words, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
FROM THE GOVERNOR

Phoenix -
This week I am writing to you from England -- where I'm traveling with a delegation of Arizona business leaders to bolster the economic possibilities between Arizona and the United Kingdom. I’ve spoken with government and business leaders from the UK about ways we can work together. I met with the Chairman of British Airways to promote Arizona’s only nonstop flight from Phoenix to London. This popular route will likely expand to seven days a week by the end of next year if growth is sustained. I sought to advance Phoenix’s own Translational Genomics Research Institute by collaborating with representatives from the British pharmaceutical industry. I also encouraged two UK-based corporations, Rio Tinto Zinc and Bull Moose Tubing, to consider expanding their businesses in two rural Arizona communities -- Superior and Casa Grande. These types of economic development efforts are critical because they help create stability for local Arizona communities. As always, I am committed to enriching the lives and potential of all Arizonans.
Please don't hesitate to contact my office at (800) 253-0883 or visit my website at www.governor.state.az.us.

OPINIONS
HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY? -
OPINIONS - are not necessarily the opinion of the Golden Shores eXtra or it's staff.
If you have an opinion you would like to put in this publication, please email news@goldenshores.net.
Mrs Knibb,
I found Pat Collorans statement of facts in the previous G.S. eXtra to be carefully written so as not to appear argumentive nor accusing. I thought it was a very informative piece of news.
Now, in regards to your rebuttal, it contained accusations, some name calling (for example "her minion") which is totally uncalled for as an adult in a common civil lawsuit.
You state that "She did not, in fact, win the case." I'm sorry, but there is no grey area in lawsuits. Either you win or you lose, and it appears you did not have enough evidence to support your case, so you lost. You had nothing in writing, and it is just a lesson well learned in future agreements.
I see, further, in your rebuttal that you have learned that piece of the judgement..."GET IT IN WRITING",
so, in reality what it appears, is that you offered to help as a friend and as a neighbor with no expectation of any monetary payment. If you feel you were misled or cheated, then so be it, but I personally have know Pat Colloran for a few years now, and her character is one of honesty, fairness, and feeling. She has worked very hard for the Women's Club, along with her husband, to make good things happen and be profitable for the Women's Club, and I found it very upsetting that you would want to drag this good womans name in the mud.
By the way, I also found it very wrong of you to also drag Imogene Wrights name down. Both of those women have worked very hard and given their all to this community and I know they will continue to do so and not let this "little action" hinder their charactors.
Pat Colloran will always have my vote as a person, and she is definitely a fantastic person all around.
Pearl Ritter, also a former member of the Women's Club, but it's due to family health. I WANT TO COME BACK WHEN IT BECOMES POSSIBLE!!!!

BIKERS RAISE $$$ FOR SCHOOL

G.S. -
On 10/30 twenty six motorcycles carrying members and guests of the Kingman Chapter of STAR Touring pulled away from the Smiths parking lot on another poker run to benefit local programs and people. This time the cause was a “run” to raise funds for the families of some city workers who had been injured on the job. Invited to ride as guests were Brett Agenbroad, Superintendent of Topock Elementary School and his wife Maria.
The proceeds were divided between Topock Elementary School and a girl in Alabama who is struggling to recover from the physical and financial impact of being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Mr. Agenbroad was awarded a check for one-thousand dollars from the owners of FUN STUFF and the members of Star Touring. Topock Elementary District was the recipient of similar funding last year from a fundraising event by The River Trikers, ABATE, and STAR Touring riding clubs.
The funding and effort of Mr. And Mrs. Loyd and members of Star Touring are very much appreciated by the staff and students at Topock Elementary School in Golden Shores. The money will be used to buy new titles for the schools library.
Our sincere thanks to Chuck Phemister and the STAR Touring Chapter for their continued support of our school.

WEEKLY QUOTE
As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are so grateful that new mercies are ours daily. We choose to forget not all Your benefits in the face of high costs all around us, we thank You that You take from the places of plenty and give into the places of need, You are more than enough! We believe Your Word knowing not one Word of it will return to You void but will accomplish what it is sent to do in Jesus name! You alone make a way where there seems no way, thank You.
We pray and ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
